How to Apply New PAN Card
Please note that one should apply for new Pan Card when the applicant is a resident Indian citizen and has never applied for a Permanent Account Number (PAN) or does not have a PAN allotted to him. What is form 49A?
Form 49A is a Application for Allotment of Permanent Account Number in case of Indian Citizen/Indian Companies/Entities incorporated in India/Unincorporated entities formed in India. To apply PAN card online, click here to fill the online application form.
What are the procedures involved in applying for a new PAN card?
Fill - Fill the online application form (Form 49A)
Pay - Make Payment online
Sign - Download the prefilled application and affix photos and signature.
Send - Send the signed application and supporting documents by post or courier to the address provided in the welcome mail. Click here for more details.
What documents will serve as proof of identity in case of individual applicants, including minors for new PAN application using form 49A?
Following documents are accepted as proof of identity:
- AADHAAR Card issued by UIDAI
- Arms License
- Bank Certificate in Original on Letter Head of the Branch (along with name and stamp of the issuing officer) containing duly attested photograph and bank account number of the applicant (Download format)
- Central Govt Health Scheme Card or Ex Serviceman Contributory Health Scheme Photo Card
- Certificate of Identity in Original signed by MP or MLA or Municipal Councilor (Download format)
- Certificate of Identity in Original signed from Gazetted Officer (Download format)
- Driving License
- Passport
- Pensioner Card having Photograph of Applicant
- Photo ID Card issued by Central Govt or State Govt or a Public Sector Undertaking
- Ration Card having Photograph of the Applicant
- Voters ID Card

Following documents are accepted as proof of address:
- AADHAAR Card issued by UIDAI
- Allotment Letter of Accommodation issued by Central Govt or State Govt not more than 3 years old
- Bank Account Statement not more than 3 months old**
- Certificate of Address in Original signed by MP or MLA or Municipal Councilor (Download format)
- Certificate of Address in Original signed from Gazetted Officer (Download format)
- Consumer Gas Connection Card or Book or Piped Gas Bill not more than 3 months old**
- Credit Card Statement not more than 3 months old**
- Depository Account Statement not more than 3 months old**
- Domicile Certificate issued by Government
- Driving License
- Electricity Bill not more than 3 months old**
- Employer Certificate in Original (Download format)
- Landline Telephone Bill or Broadband Connection Bill not more than 3 months old**
- Latest Property Tax Assessment Order
- Passport
- Passport of the Spouse
- Post Office Passbook having Address of Applicant
- Property Registration Document
- Voters ID Card
- Water Bill not more than 3 months old**
Note: **Should not be more than three months old on the date of the application.
What documents will serve as proof of date of birth for individual applicants, including minors for new PAN application using form 49A?
Following documents are accepted as proof of date of birth:
- AADHAAR Card issued by UIDAI
- Affidavit sworn before Magistrate stating Date of Birth
- Birth Certificate issued by Municipal Authority or any Office Authorized to issue Birth & Death Certificate or the Indian Consulate
- Central Govt Health Scheme Card or Ex Serviceman Contributory Health Scheme Photo Card
- Domicile Certificate issued by Government
- Driving License
- Marriage Certificate issued by Registrar of Marriages
- Matriculation Certificate or Mark Sheet of Recognised Board
- Passport
- Pension Payment Order
- Photo ID Card issued by Central Govt or State Govt or a Public Sector undertaking or State Public sector undertaking
